Hot water is one of our most valuable tools in the fight against COVID-19. Whether it’s cleaning floors, pressure washing equipment or sanitizing shopping carts, hot water is efficient, hygienic and sustainable. Follow these tips to use your pressure washer in Phoenix to reduce and eliminate germs.

Understand your application

Before you begin, consider your surroundings and the bacteria and dirt potentially present. Think about your cleaning protocols and supplies and how they will work with your environment. For example, do the surroundings allow for the safe use of pressure washers, considering exhaust fumes and large quantities of water?

Determine optimal levels and water flow and pressure

Evaluate the surface types and dirt you will be cleaning to determine the optimal levels of water pressure and flow. Loose dirt calls for high flow and medium pressure. If you’re battling ingrained, tough dirt, choose higher pressure levels.

Choose optimal temp levels

High temps break down germs. To reduce bacteria, choose temps between 185 and 212-degrees F. To eliminate germs, you’ll need temps of about 311-degrees F.

Choose the right detergent and prep the surface

Choose a detergent that will help combat germs. Soak your surface with the solution to break down resistant layers of dirt and waste.

Rinse off

Rinse detergent away and pressure wash the work surface to remove waste and dirt. If your unit can heat water to 284-degrees, use wet steam pressure washing to partially sterilize the surface

Apply disinfectant

While hot water can reduce the amount of bacteria on a surface, you’ll still need disinfectant to finish the job. After applying disinfectant, leave the surface to dry for the appropriate time according to your product’s label.
